I had a lot of things planned for this year because lets be real. Who really gets to relax on a holiday when you have three young kids? Nobody. So I decided I would be proactive and diffuse any problems by planning a day full of activities and family fun.
The morning started off with having Eibleskeivers and bacon. Then we went off to the summer movies and watched EPIC. The weather cooled down from the storm we had the night before so it was muggy but at least cooler.
We came home for lunch, then started off the family games with a classic round of throw the ball at the tower of cups.
Greyson did quiet well beating us all!
After the ball event we headed outside and filled up a ton of water balloons to do a toss in buckets. The kids loved this even though no one really could make it in the bucket. They enjoyed seeing the balloons pop and trying to hold the wobbly little things in their hands. Allisandria was a great score keeper all day.
after our games, the sun came out for a little bit and we went swimming for a little bit. during this whole day, our air conditioner had gone out and our house was slowly heating up. Dave swam with us for a minute before having to head back to the house to meet the air conditioner repair man. We were blessed that he could make it out quickly so we didn't have to go to a hotel for the evening.
We enjoyed festive drinks, pasta salad and steaks.
After some down and quiet time, the kids headed out to ride their bikes while we waited for it to get dark out to do our sparklers. They enjoyed their patriotic glow wands and some dessert pizza while we waited. Then we had fun with the pop its and sparklers. Greyson was quite funny throwing the pop its on the ground.
we ended our busy day with a slumber party in the family room. Since Greyson is now in a big boy bed he was able to enjoy this with his sisters. It was quite cute seeing him get excited and bring his Dusty pillow out and read a book with Bella.
We had a great day. One of the better 4th's we have had. Glad and grateful for the country we live in and those that serve to keep us free. God Bless!!
