Spirit- An evening with the Yamamoto Family

Meet Todd, Lila, thier son, Cody, and Spirit.  This sweet family is in our ward and they have offered to us a ride on their horse.  Spirit was gentle and the kids adored every minute.  I couldn't tell them what we were doing until we arrived at their house because their excitement turns into shrills, shreaks and never ending, "when are we gonna be there?".    We got there and Todd had Spirit all ready to go.  The neat thing is that he also has 9 or so hunting dogs that were running around.  He kennels them, as he is raising and training them to be fantastic hunters.  Something I never knew in the few years we have known this family.

After riding Spirit, Todd and Cody helped the kids feed all the dogs.  They thought that was super cool.

We enjoyed dessert and visiting on the front porch.  This was right before it started getting really hot, in the beginning of May.  The evevnings were perfect.  The girls are in LOVE with Cody.  He took them on a bug hunt, and he fed Greyson chocolate cake.  Messy, but he worked it like a champ.

This was right when Greyson was starting to walk.  He walked and fell, walked and fell.  Lila enjoyed following him along with being sweet to the girls.

Todd used to be a Horse Jockey.  He started when he was around 15 years old and quit sometime after his two children were born.  This family melts my heart.  As we visited and heard stories of his Jockey-ing days, we just fell in love with them even more.  They feel like family.  I had the opportunity to sing at their daughter's wedding last year when Grey was only a few months old and had a chance to hang out with them really for the first time.  Todd's entire family took me under their wing.  I felt a part of the family.  Greyson stole the hearts of many, so I knew that was my ticket.
Thanks Yamamoto family for your friendship.  YOU ROCK!
